400 Million Commuters on Trams in Sydney!
Did you realise that at the height of the tram era in Sydney around 1945, trams were carrying almost 400 million passengers per year which is similar to what trains are carrying now ("Shooting Through" p 6). Interestingly, buses are now carrying more trips per day in Sydney than trains, although it's a smaller proportion of the kilometres.
