Calling All Liverpool Transport Taskfocre Members

Calling all Liverpool Transport Taskforce members.

The monthly meeting this coming Monday 3rd Feb, 2014 is an important one.

Representatives from Liverpool Council, Transport for NSW and the two bus companies -Transit First and Interline will be joining the meeting to discuss  the Liverpool Transport Taskforce Video - Improvements for the Moore St Bus Stop.

If you can come, you are being encouraged to come at 9.30am (instead of 10am) so that we can be set up and all ready when the officials arrive.

This meeting will be in the GREEN ROOM  Liverpool Library, 170 George St,  Liverpool.

The Liverpool Transport Taskforce will be seeking committments from the officials for improvments to the important and busy Moore St Bus Stop.

I will post the outcomes of this meeting.  I am confident of a constructive meeting with positive outcomes.

WALKING BUS COORDINATOR POSITION

Connections is a non-profit organisation which aims to build community through a number of initiatives throughout Australia. One of those initiatives is The Walking Bus, which aims to see children walk to school in a way that encourages a healthy lifestyle, is environmentally friendly, and builds community.

A fantastic position is available for a Coordinator of The Walking Bus. Our head office is based in the North-West Sydney region.

The position is permanent part-time, 20 hours per week.

This role will require flexibility as the work hours may be spread over several days during the week. The suitable applicant will also be required to start immediately. Ongoing training and supervision will be provided.


THE ROLE WILL INVOLVE:
  • Establishment of a new Walking Bus programs at selected schools
  • Research and establishment of suitable new Walking Bus routes
  • Develop relationships with current and future schools
  • Maintain and expand upon existing Walking Bus School programs
  • Expand upon the current program
  • Ensure the long-term sustainability of programs within schools
  • Contact with and support for the volunteers
  • Publishing a quarterly newsletter for the volunteers
  • Both visiting and contacting each of the participating schools on a regular basis
  • Organise regular training sessions for schools, Volunteers and participants
  • Working along side school principals, P&C's and Teachers, along with other organisations such as councils
  • Seeking and acquiring additional funding from other sources, such as government grants, and private sponsorship
  • Flexible hours that may increase in the future as the program is rolled out and additional funding is sourced
  • Reporting to Key Stakeholders about the ongoing growth of the program
  • Ongoing Staff Development and Training

APPLICANTS SHOULD HAVE THE FOLLOWING:
  • Adhere to the vision, values and mission statements of Connections
  • Excellent communication, organisational and management skills
  • Excellent and efficient time management skills
  • A registered car and valid drivers license
  • Energetic, innovative and self-motivated
  • Be well presented
  • Outgoing personality to be able to meet potential sponsors and stakeholders
  • Ability to work within a close team environment and take direction
  • Ability to lead other Coordinators working under you
  • Ability to operate at both the social and corporate level
  • Ability to construct and complete submissions, documents and applications
  • Excellent reporting skills
  • Good level of computer skills,

Thank God We Don't Have Bus Marshals All Along Every Bus Routes - People Can Get Lost!

Here is a blog  published in Singapore where due to traffic 'Marshals' along bus routes - providing an incorrect hand signal presented 30 commuters being  sent to the wrong place. Thank God we don't have bus marshals like this  along all bus routes in Greater Western Sydney or even Sydney!
